GRANDMA ELVIRA’S IRISH SODA BREAD
4 cups flour
4 teasp baking powder
1/2 teasp baking soda
1 teasp salt
3 tablesp sugar
1 tablesp caraway seeds
mix
add
1 cup raisins
mix
 (so all raisins are separated and covered)
add
2 cups buttermilk
mix with fork
(until mixture forms a dough)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
sprinkle about 1/4 c flour on board
turn out dough on top (flour keeps it from sticking)
knead for about 5 minutes working the flour from board & form a smooth round loaf.
put in greased iron skillet
cut cross in top 1/2” deep — 325 degrees for 1 hr 15 min

My  grandma always made approximately 400 loaves of this every year for St.  Patrick’s Day. Before she passed away we had her write down the magic  recipe that she had never written down before. If you make it, let me  know how it is!
