A late entry in the apple cake-off came in from my friend Kristen. Isn’t it fun looking at pictures of baked goods you can’t eat? I’m so glad that I’ve made the decision to turn this tumblr into a baking journal of foods you can’t eat made by people you might not know. And I know you are, too.

Anyhoodles, here’s what Kristen had to say about this cake.

“So, this cake was sort of odd.  It called for an enormous amount of apples and a very small amount of cake so it was really just baked apples without the benefit of a sweet crumbly topping.  It was fine and everyone ate it, but without the vanilla ice cream it would have been just silly.  Definitely won’t be making this again.  You could just eat an apple and get the same effect.”  The cake may have been a bit underwhelming, but getta load of those delightfully English Cottage-y desert plates! Oo la la.Anyway, if you’ve read this far I commend you. And also, this week IT’S A VERY SPECIAL HALLOWEEN BAKE-OFF!!! I’ll be making pumpkin pecan cupcakes with maple glaze to eat while I watch this year’s Spookyfest selection — Paranormal Activity. I know that the above words mean nothing to 96.4% of you, but trust me they are important words. So get baking those Halloween treats, y’all. I don’t care what you bake, as long as it’s Halloweenish in spirit.
